Hi, I’m Mat — and I’ve been doing silly voices my whole life
I’m a dad of two brilliant kids (14 and 11), a drummer, and an unrepentantly playful, young-at-heart sort of person. I’ve loved character voices for as long as I can remember — the kind that make a child lean in, giggle, and beg for “just one more page”. With Vocalsmith I finally get to do that for a living, and I couldn’t be more excited to get stuck in.
I’ve got a degree in computer animation and a lifelong soft spot for the studios that tell stories with heart — so bringing characters to life is sort of in my bones. Being autistic and ADHD, I tend to hyper-focus on getting the little details just right: the pacing, the warmth, the timing of a punchline. It’s a superpower for narration.
I record on professional kit (a Shure SM57 through a clean XLR-to-USB chain) in a treated, quiet space, so you get crisp, broadcast-ready audio — no hiss, no hassle. I’m friendly, easy to work with, and genuinely invested in helping you make your audiobook the best it can be.
